Lip balm is a wax substance that is applied topically to the lips to prevent dryness and chapping. Its main purpose is to add layer to the lip surface to seal moisture and protect them from external exposure. Lip balm usually comes in small containers or on lipstick style tube from which it can be applied directly. Lip balm mostly contains lanolin, paraffin and petroleum among other ingredients.
